ABOUT US

It is our pleasure and privilege to lead the Briarcliff Manor Education Foundation.

Incorporated in 1995, the BMEF is a non-profit, charitable organization that functions independently from, but works in cooperation with, the Briarcliff Manor School District. We raise funds to be able to award grants for innovative, progressive programs, technology, and curriculum that cannot be included in the school budget. We’re delighted that many teachers, administrators, students, and community members seek to take advantage of this resource and opportunity.

Parents, especially ones new to our district, may wonder why an education foundation is necessary. With the requirements and limits of public school budgets, most high-performing districts in Westchester like ours have an education foundation to offer support where a traditional school budget cannot.

The BMEF has a wonderful history of funding original, forward-thinking projects including an electronic music lab (one of only two in the county), kinesthetic classrooms, specialized science equipment, and even a grand piano. We’re very proud that every child in the district has benefitted from the programs we’ve brought to our schools.

Over the past 25 years, we have awarded nearly 1.1 million in grants. We’re grateful for the community’s support of the BMEF; it is critical to our work and the strength of our schools. If every one of the 900 or so families in our district donated even $50, that money would go a long way for the BMEF to continue to support contemporary, inventive, educational programs to enrich the education of our students. We also welcome interested community members to join our board of dedicated volunteers, who bring can-do spirit and many varied talents to bear on our organization.
